I wouldn't worry about "at risk"ing things yet. The reason I raise this is because it has been a general goal of doing CSSOM to capture existing practice as opposed to introducing new features. I personally don't have a problem introducing new features if there is widespread agreement among implementers to do so, however, we need to take more care in doing so.
