I don't think that the use case for inheriting the value of the corresponding property while providing only a fallback is strong enough to warrant a dedicated syntax. In the rare case that the author really wants this, they can specify the name of the property explicitly. The ability to specify which property to inherit from *is* useful, on the other hand, and the name is pretty straightforward about what it does - it gets the inherited value from the named property.
