Just wanted to +1 that I am running into this right now and we need to solve this gap! Anchored container queries do not solve it because you can't style the element which is anchored directly. So, for example, you can't style the `:popover-open` when using anchored CQ since you are querying the element that is going to have `:popover-open`.
