@svgeesus As hard as it is to say, my earlier fix was dumb. While it "works" I jumped too quickly with a Band-Aid. I've created a PR #13416. That shows a proper fix. Long story short, this is a numerical instability issue due to floating-point numbers. Just artificially clamping `tnear` is not the correct approach. The real solution is ensuring the direction is not too small (greater than some epsilon suitable for the unit type).
