This feature is becoming increasingly important as Noto Sans JP is set to become the default font for Chromium-based browsers. Many sites that misuse "system-ui" will need to transition to "sans-serif." In such cases, there is a problem: Japanese Windows fonts will switch from Yu Gothic UI, which is condensed and occupies less width difference compared to a corresponding original English text, to the standard-width Noto Sans JP. This will cause the text to occupy a significantly larger width. To mitigate this issue, it is crucial to make "palt" configurable without relying on "text-feature-settings" as soon as possible. -- GitHub Notification of comment by tats-u Please view or discuss this issue at https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/6723#issuecomment-3933298927 using your GitHub account -- Sent via github-notify-ml as configured in https://github.com/w3c/github-notify-ml-config
