Re: [csswg-drafts] Request for review: `application-context` media feature (Web App Manifest) (#14125)

US/EU Manifest editors meeting notes (@christianliebel and I):

We agree with @benfrancis here. The notes don't seem to have any clear conclusion?

`installed` con that wasn't discussed - this can be understood that the application was installed at one point, even if it's in a browser tab right now, and that isn't what this is communicating. so a semantic difference.

And for `display-mode`, this is intending to communicate a less-flaky version of display-mode. For Safari, a dev can use localstorage to estimate this (although they have navigator.standalone, unspec'd), where if the display-mode is ever non-browser and non-fullscreen, they save that it's in an app context. However, due to edge & chromium allowing reparenting, this method is potentially flaky. This localstorage hackiness is weird and not great. Hence having a clear media query here that means the dev doesn't have to ask for cookie storage just to know this is good.

It seems like the notes show this distinction was clear to folks. But we just don't see any conclusion?

Also, 'Am I installed on the system in general' is a **different** question and API all together, that is part of the `getInstalledRelatedApps` API, which is in Chromium right now - and a separate discussion with other browser vendors.
