Note: Japanese doesn't use italic at all, so italic should be replaced with emphasis dots (like above), bold weight, sans-serif (if the base text is serif), or colored text (e.g. red) if `<em>` is actually appropriate. When using italics for non-emphasis purposes, Japanese text doesn't change its style at all—it doesn't even become italicized.
