I like this much more than what I wrote. I'm not sure why I complicated things that much back when I wrote my PR.
Although, if I'm reading this right, it only says that the boxes shouldn't extend into the gap once they have been broken. Really, a UA should also attempt to break the box before it enters the gap. (while leaving room for any cloned padding, border and margin)

Also, and this wasn't in my PR either: I think this needs to apply between columns as well, in case the fragmentation direction is perpendicular to the block direction.
