My concern with "edge" is that the word is already defined to refer to [the literal edges of a box](https://drafts.csswg.org/css-box/#box-edges), and in practice most of the time these "edge" properties *would* apply to insets applied at the literal edges of containers, but occasionally they'll apply to insets *not* at the literal edges of the containers, and that seems like it could be confusing.
