Re: [csswg-drafts] [css-overflow-4] Unexpected behavior of `continue: discard` on multicolumn containers with spanners (#8721)

I'd like to suggest that the general discussion of `continue: discard` goes beyond the scope of this issue. It seems to me that the specific question asked here has been resolved.
Under the assumption that `continue: discard` is a thing, and that it does apply to multicol, the question was how to handle no just overflow columns (which had been covered already), but spanners and content after spanners that flows back into non-overflow columns. Given that `continue: discard` (when invoked without `max-lines`) boils down to keeping what fits and discarding everything after that, I think the resolution achieved here is a sensible instantiation of that principle for the multicol context.

If you want to pursue a broader discussion on `continue: discard`, that should probably should go into some distinct specific issue, possibly https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/12795.
