frivoal has just created a new issue for https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts: == [css-overflow-4] Mark `continue: discard` at risk == We've decided to base `line-clamp` on `continue: collapse`, and this is where there's current implementation interest. At the same time, `continue: discard` remains more versatile, and albeit at a lower priority, we're still exploring that option. I think we should continue to do so, but presenting them on the same footing does a disservice to the reader of the spec, as one is clearly more short term. Given that implementation interest is more focused on `collapse` that `discard`, I think we should mark `discard` at risk. (In addition, since `continue: discard` was specified first, it still appears first in prose order at the time of writing this issue. As an editorial adjustment, I'll be changing that order so that `continue: collapse` comes first. I don't need a resolution for that, but that seems loosely related, so I thought I'd mention it in passing).
