In the state of CSS survey from this year, the overwhelming feedback in the layout category was how confusing grid, its syntax, and model are, which tells me that trying to match grid as much as possible could be building off of something that is already confusing for authors. In other words, if grid (and flexbox) didn't exist, would we choose `item-flow: row` to switch to waterfall vs brickwall?
