Masonry uses some `grid-*` properties, so it’s helpful to have `grid` in the value name. And it makes it more clear that grid and masonry can interact via subgridding. That's a valid point. I just wanted to express that I am still in the masonry-is-its-own-thing camp. And I believe, we should have introduced more general properties for features that are shared between grid and masonry and have `masonry-*` properties that only affect masonry layout. Anyway, we are beyond that point now, so I'm not objecting to having "grid" in the name. I'm just not happy with it.
