Re: [csswg-drafts] [css-grid-3][masonry] Baseline alignment in the masonry axis (#9530)

The CSS Working Group just discussed `[css-grid-3][masonry] Baseline alignment in the masonry axis`, and agreed to the following:

* `RESOLVED: Take the baseline only from first/last item in tracks`

<details>
The full IRC log of that discussion

<ydaniv> TabAtkins: we talked about where to determine first and last baselines
<ydaniv> ... simple answer is first baseline comes from heighest among the first tracks
<fantasai> miriam, see https://excalidraw.com/#json=t57WAAEA-yTnMkdIQJJEI,cfGMkDWWlUwvkzGIH9lrCA
<TabAtkins> last baseline comes from the lowest baseline among the last items in each track
<ydaniv> fantasai: we want to clarify that the last baseline will be the lowest baseline
<alisonmaher> q+
<ydaniv> ... we agreed to look at the last item in each column for the last baseline, and we want to double check with the group
<astearns> +1
<fantasai> wanted to clarify that it will be from the last item, not from an earlier item
<dholbert> that makes sense to me!
<ydaniv> almaher: I think we want to be consistent with multicol
<ydaniv> fantasai: we believe we need the same clarification in multicol
<ydaniv> ... I think you'd expect the last one
<ydaniv> almaher: I think that makes sense
<ydaniv> astearns: so in multicol it can be positioned by the last baseline
<ydaniv> fantasai: yes, I think people won't do it but yes
<castastrophe> Thanks for the visual fantasai, super helpful
<ydaniv> fantasai: when checking for the heighest and lowest we only check for first and last tracks
<ydaniv> ... this distinction was not in original resolution
<ydaniv> ... this is what we assumed, so need to add to the spec
<ydaniv> astearns: I said we want this to be explicit
<fantasai> RESOLVED: Take the baseline only from first/last item in tracks
<ydaniv> astearns: assuming there were no objections?
