Hey hey! Thank you, @tkent-google, for the prototype implementation and feedback. I agree with many of the points your team brings up, but also strongly disagree with many. I opened separate issues so we could have more focused discussions and potential future resolutions there: - https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/12885 - https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/12886 - https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/12887 - https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/12888 Things that I'd want to do more research into, and I did not create issues about yet: - Conflict with other features (`float`, `initial-letter`, etc.). I believe there might be a way to somehow marry the features (maybe not all of them) without fully disabling anything, but will need to spend some time thinking about it. - Methods other than `font-size` and `letter-spacing`. Authors expressed the need to adjust other aspects of the text like the applied variable axis, font-weight, etc — we need to keep them in mind when designing the main feature, allowing expanding it to incorporate other mechanisms of fitting the text. And things that are not as important right now/should be done after other issues: - Shorthands/longhands discussions. - Bikeshedding of names. -- GitHub Notification of comment by kizu Please view or discuss this issue at https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/2528#issuecomment-3356360458 using your GitHub account -- Sent via github-notify-ml as configured in https://github.com/w3c/github-notify-ml-config
