@yisibl Interesting, thanks for pointing out that example uses flex - I had only seen the screenshot at that point (not the codepen) and assumed it was a grid. I'll get the explainer updated to reflect that.

To make sure I'm following correctly: Is the idea that, once we have dense packing in flexbox, the "ghost items" would not be necessary anymore? And then you'd want to be able to control whether a decoration appears (a) to the right of the last item in the flex container, and/or (b) below the items in the next-to-last flex line that are above empty space (14 and 15 in your screenshots)?
