I'd like to challenge that. I don't doubt that some content does use ascii spaces between ideographic characters and either numeric or alphabetic characters where `text-autospace` would otherwise take effect, but "most" seems like a strong overstatement to me. In fact, outside EPUBs, I'm having a hard time finding any content that does it. Wikipedia doesn't. The websites of the Asahi Shinbun or Nikkei Shinbun newspapers don't, nor do those of Tokyo University or Keio University. The Japanese ministry of Education and Culture doesn't, nor does the JMA. Line doesn't. ascii.jp doesn't. ameblo.jp doesn't…

So, the idea that this would be a no-op on most of the web seems questionable to me.
