I'll have to kinda second this.

I do believe and understand that all the hyphens were probably a thing to not break the syntax for older browsers when introducing `var()`, but are they really still necessary for newly introduced @-rules? Or do we just want to keep things uniform?

I'd be fine either way, but if they're not really *required*, let's maybe explore if we could instead drop them!
