Yes, that kind of change would break sites, so we need to make a decision and stick with it. I think defaulting to `auto` makes a lot of sense. Note that `auto` currently resolves to `text`; authors would have to change `line-fit-edge` to change that. I think I agree with @jensimmons about the problem, though.
