Shadow was the original impetus, but the name is now just a historical artifact and unrelated to what authors use it for. Also it was never a very good drop shadow. What is it then? It feels like it's either something that at least tries to resemble a shadow as much as possible, or a stroke (essentially multiple outines with offset and blur), or some handcrafted hybrid that applies to a few examples but doesn't generalize well (eg when it comes to corner shape). -- GitHub Notification of comment by noamr Please view or discuss this issue at https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/7103#issuecomment-3221210875 using your GitHub account -- Sent via github-notify-ml as configured in https://github.com/w3c/github-notify-ml-config
