That's the second point on the list :) Form controls should be recognizable and usable on their own.

Regarding removing the drop shadow for the select picker, this is linked to the 5th point, in general, we shouldn't try to add styles that not absolutely necessary (dialog & popover only have borders, no box-shadows).
