@ccameron-chromium Am I reading it correctly that you would prefer gamut mapping to be completely removed from the specification? I think this is very problematic at this point in time because so much work has been done with gamut mapping in mind. It is not a part that can be dropped and that the remainder of css-color-4 still makes sense. That is also the core of this issue. Implementers shipped part of the specification but didn't ship gamut mapping. So authors are now discovering the various ways in which color notations have weird outcomes. Are there specific hurdles that make implementation impossible? ----------- For the purpose of this issue it might be best to discuss alternatives in separate issues and link back to them here? Then this issue can remain focussed on the fact that gamut mapping is an integral part of css-color-4 but hasn't been implemented. -- GitHub Notification of comment by romainmenke Please view or discuss this issue at https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/9449#issuecomment-1910066168 using your GitHub account -- Sent via github-notify-ml as configured in https://github.com/w3c/github-notify-ml-config
