Although it is a bit janky and CSS should probably support it better, it's possible to implement this without a new HTML attribute and adding an HTML attribute for this would be mixing styling and semantics, something which we've managed to avoid doing for a very long time now. Would you mind suggesting an alternative, rather than just saying "no"?
