There is a genuine need here -- View Transitions is a [CR](https://drafts.csswg.org/css-view-transitions/), and IntersectionObserver V2 is used on [6% of page loads](https://chromestatus.com/metrics/feature/timeline/popularity/3051) in Chrome. Even if I can't overcome your objections to the PR's I put up, I would like to find a way forward.
