I'd be happy with either bare `()` or a new function. `[]` would also be ok, though I somewhat dislike the double meaning of them regarding the use in `grid-template-*`. (They might not have been the best choice for naming grid lines, though that ship has sailed.) I think we agree that we should _not_ use `{}`. Not only because of "naive userland tools" reasons but also because they indicate a rule body.
