There's no observable difference between that and saving the entire property value as a unit. I think there are minor differences with trailing whitespaces/comments at the top-level of the declaration value. You also loose the ability to serialize the fallback argument of `var()` with the original string but the other parts as tokens. This is something I suggested in #6484 but I am aware that this may not be ideal for memory savings.
