Ah, so it mostly the question of definition, where we'd need to have it properly specified in the specs, as otherwise we could have compat issues where different browsers could have different boxes for those? And as the existing boxes are not used for anything really, it is ok, but adding an ability to query them would make them “appear”, and this would need to be defined? If so, yeah, I can see how this won't be an “easy implementation”, but I'd argue that it would be still really really nice to have (and I was thinking about mostly use-cases with `initial-letter`, where we could want to add various decorations etc over it).
