@sanketj I'm not suggesting a change to the DOM range spec--certainly not a *normative* change at this late date. We could put a health warning into it, if there were appetite for a revision. However, consumers of DOM ranges, such as highlights, probably can benefit from calling out the potential problems and implementers of highlights can do things to help users avoid issues if we provide good documentation in highlights.
