I feel *very* strongly that the properties should **not** apply to the staticpos if the parent grid container is not the abspos containing block. As Ian says, this means the positioned element would be using a single set of grid-positioning properties in two *entirely different* grids, which is incoherent. I wouldn't object to *never* using the grid positioning properties for staticpos, but I'm also fine with the current state of affairs.
