j9t has just created a new issue for https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts: == [css-images] `image-tags` vs. `image-dir` == `image()` appears to specify [directionality through “image tags.”](https://w3c.github.io/csswg-drafts/css-images-4/#image-notation) This looks like a broad and possibly confusing name (cf. tags in HTML). Given how similar it is to HTML’s [`dir`](https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/dom.html#the-dir-attribute), it also begs the question whether `image-dir` wouldn’t be clearer. Is there something to read up on the rationale, to learn more? Or is there merit to challenging `image-tags`, and working with something like `image-dir`?
