A [Twitter poll](https://twitter.com/svgeesus/status/1592956077959942145) found that most people don't know what `font-stretch` property does and had never used it. Those who hazarded a guess slightly favored the (incorrect) "it stretches the glyphs" interpretation (which the spec currently forbids) over the correct, "it selects a width variant" option.

The [same poll on Mastodon](https://mastodon.social/@svgeesus/109355099109547015) reversed the slight lead among those guessing what it does (perhaps due to promotion on type.social) but again most respondents had not used it.
