> Is there any harm in deploying an alias Yes: maintenance cost. It’s yet one more thing added to the web platform, one more thing whose effects have to be tested. If you set one, does the other one’s computed style change? Do they appear distinct in the CSSOM? Do we use the shorthand mechanism to alias them? And the new name wouldn’t let authors accomplish anything that they couldn’t already accomplish today. It would take the same grammar and the same values; it’s not reformulating the functionality like grid-template-columns; and there is no new functionality here. The case for font-width would be easier to make if there were new features here, similar to the relationship between tables and CSS grid. But it seems like we’re just talking about a pure alias here. -- GitHub Notification of comment by litherum Please view or discuss this issue at https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/551#issuecomment-1317701626 using your GitHub account -- Sent via github-notify-ml as configured in https://github.com/w3c/github-notify-ml-config
