I agree with @tabatkins that re-using `:active` with an entirely different meaning would be a terrible idea. While I understand that `:active` was originally defined to be a little vague, the reality is that today it means "pointer is pressed over the element". I would however support having *a* pseudo-class for what @plinss is proposing.
