The CSS Working Group just discussed `[selectors] Add :modal-dialog pseudo-class`, and agreed to the following: * `RESOLVED: Name is :modal` * `RESOLVED: Name is :modal for pseudo-class. It is defined as the element/dialog that restricts interaction to everything as described in the issue` <details><summary>The full IRC log of that discussion</summary> <dael> Topic: [selectors] Add :modal-dialog pseudo-class<br> <dael> github: https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/6965<br> <dael> chrishtr: We discussed at length, almost resolved on modal or modal-diaglog. Question if modal is well defined or slightly different.<br> <dael> chrishtr: Spoke offline and now agree modal or modal-dialog<br> <dael> chrishtr: I propose we trya nd resolve on one of those two names<br> <dael> Rossen_: Do you have a favorite?<br> <dael> chrishtr: Mine is modal and I think TabAtkins is modal-diaglo<br> <dael> TabAtkins: I prefer mine, but okay with other. Temp check of group would be fine with me<br> <fantasai> I agree with chrishtr's comment https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/6965#issuecomment-1115460853<br> <dael> Rossen_: If this is only about naming I would straw poll. but I see a queue<br> <dael> fantasai: I agree with chrishtr suggestion to define modal rather than modal-diaglo and define using concept of modal as defined in comment. Not about being top-layer but about being a UI that limits interaction to dismiss pr interact with that thing<br> <dael> fantasai: Can craft a definition that's clear when applies and doesn't so doesn't need to limit to jsut dialogs<br> <dael> Rossen_: Reasonable. Other opinions?<br> <masonf> +1 to fantasai's comment<br> <dael> Rossen_: Objections to accepting modal?<br> <dael> RESOLVED: Name is :modal<br> <masonf> q+<br> <chrishtr> :modal<br> <fantasai> :modal<br> <dael> TabAtkins: Would still like straw poll<br> <Rossen_> :modal<br> <smfr> :modal<br> <plinss> :modal<br> <dholbert> no preference<br> <TabAtkins> :modal-dialog<br> <dael> Rossen_: Okay, let's type opinions<br> <dael> mfreed: Can we also make the resolution that it's as defined in comments?<br> <masonf> :modal<br> <dlibby> slight preference for :modal-dialog<br> <dael> Rossen_: Yes, modal as defined in the issue<br> <dael> Rossen_: Sounds like besides TabAtkins there's only 1 slight preference<br> <fantasai> proposal: :modal defined in terms of limits on interaction as defined in chrishtr's comment<br> <dael> RESOLVED: Name is :modal for pseudo-class. It is defined as the element/dialog that restricts interaction to everything as described in the issue<br> </details> -- GitHub Notification of comment by css-meeting-bot Please view or discuss this issue at https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/6965#issuecomment-1118033655 using your GitHub account -- Sent via github-notify-ml as configured in https://github.com/w3c/github-notify-ml-config
