@Loirooriol You're absolutely right, it didn't invalidate `flex-basis`, I was mistaken. It went to zero like the spec stated. I just didn't notice it right away. I decide to invalidate it by using a string value instead `--span:wrap` which did finally invalidate the `calc()` statement.
