@r12a I'm completely in agreement with you! My use case is essentially the same: I want to make sure that the type fits in the same space to avoid reflow or massive amounts of repaint. Having it look the same (mimicking x-height for example) is not really important to me. I just want things to stay in the same place so if _no_ web fonts show up, the integrity of the design/layout is maintained. And if they _do_ eventually show up, nothing moves around.
