I wrote a [patch](https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1664261) that implement this in Gecko and it was pretty straight-forward. Gecko already supports multi-keyword `display` and `block ruby` of course, so that made it quite trivial to add similar code to handle `math/block math`. This demonstrates that @fred-wang's claims that it would be hard to implement or add complexity or that it would cause (unspecified) security issues are false.
