The CSS Working Group just discussed ``[css-color-adjust] Re-add `only` to mean “don't auto-adjust me”, per WebKit's behavior``, and agreed to the following:

* `RESOLVED: Auto-adjustment of colors for non-forced colors may happen, exact syntax to avoid it tbd`

<emilio> Topic: [css-color-adjust] Re-add `only` to mean “don't auto-adjust me”, per WebKit's behavior
<emilio> github: https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/5089
<emilio> TabAtkins: Safari implemented color-adjust did a lot of weird thing that didn't document
<emilio> ... and our reverse-engineered spec doesn't match it
<emilio> ... so we need to decide whether we need to match
<emilio> ... so if you specify `only` it won't auto-adjust colors
<emilio> ... let me step back
<emilio> ... Safari in the mail app, if you didn't declare color-adjust, it'd do auto-adjustments, similar to forced colors
<emilio> ... if you set `only light` it'll leave your colors as they were
<emilio> ... do we want to do this? We removed only because it didn't use to do anything
<Rossen_> q?
<emilio> q-
<emilio> ... and if we want this we want to clarify this is different from forced-colors
<emilio> ... is there any clarification from Safari?
<emilio> smfr: I think your description is accurate
<emilio> ... I think no browser has shipped auto-darkening
<emilio> ... but if somebody does it then we may want to use `only` to let authors signal this
<emilio> TabAtkins: I think android webview does auto-darkening but we only do it if the color-scheme doesn't contain dark
<emilio> ... I think I'm happy to do something with this
<emilio> ... I don't want to resolve on the syntax without Rune or other relevant implementor here
<fremy> lgtm
<emilio> ... but we should resolve that auto-adjustment of colors in a non-forced-colors mode may happen
<emilio> RESOLVED: Auto-adjustment of colors for non-forced colors may happen, exact syntax to avoid it tbd
