The current spec: > If the provided value is not null or a syntactically valid <pseudo-element-selector> the user agent must throw a DOMException with error name SyntaxError and leave the target pseudo-selector of this animation effect unchanged. I didn't see Syntax Error when working on this for Gecko, so we should fix this soon, based on the up-to-date spec. > It looks like the spec says we should accept unsupported (but syntactically valid) pseudos.
