@benfrain Thank you for your message. I think this is the heart of the discussion we should have about a possible CSS4. Name a book is a marketing choice, and it is for developers that do not read the specifications or CSS tricks regularly. I disagree with your conclusion, so I would try to resume my point of view about it.

When I see a book with the title "Responsive Web Design with HTML5 and CSS3", my mind translate it to "HTML and CSS from 2012".
If we really think that there is no version numbers in CSS, we should simply name our book "Responsive Web Design with HTML and CSS" (which I prefer personnaly). But people could translate it to "HTML and CSS from the 00's", so we don't.

For speaking with editors, they liked to have a CSS4 to show that their books are up to date. And people would buy it to discover the new shiny things that are inside, even if they already bought a CSS book in 2012.
