To be clear, I agree that there are multiple solutions and that 2 in https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/5165#issuecomment-654127723 is more attractive, but as pointed out it's not just `image-orientation` that's problematic and with 2 implementations will have to be a lot more careful in terms of robustness.
