+1 to @dbaron's proposal, and to @AmeliaBR's previous summary. The existing tags (`preserve-3d`, `flat`, and `auto`) could cover all of the usage patterns we need if we permit browsers to support `preserve-3d` at the top layer for environments that support it. Adding another `transform-style` seems confusing/unnecessary/superfluous.
