@MatsPalmgren this isn't about the site deciding the theme.
This feature is for users that already specified that they want to see a dark theme. Now a site can indicate that it will look ok to render it in a dark mode.
Without this feature, a UA wouldn't know if it can do so without affecting the usability of the page.
