Would it be helpful to consider this as a functional notation? Like `system-ui(rounded)` to say "use a system UI font, rounded if you have one, otherwise the default system UI font", or `system-ui(serif, monospace)` to mean "use a system UI font, serif if you have it, otherwise monospace (otherwise the default).
