I really don't like the idea of a breaking change! An example of a use-case this change would break: using `:empty` on a `<div contenteditable></div>` to set a style indicating that it hasn't been edited or show a placeholder message indicating that editing is possible ([old demo of mine](https://codepen.io/AmeliaBR/details/QvMGmR)).
