A historical note: when German was still typeset in Fraktur, there was a mandatory "ck" ligature. It was definitely a mistake to break that ligature, and, before you ask, adding extra character space in Fraktur was common, because it was the primary means for emphasis. What I like about the example is that it affects a non-complex script and one we think we know so well.
