liamquin has just created a new issue for https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts: == [CSS2] the drop cap examples in the :first-letter pseudo-element section need updating == https://drafts.csswg.org/css2/selector.html#x50 The first (initial cap) example is ugly but OK :) but the drop cap examples after it should be deleted; they could refer informatively to CSS inline 3 perhaps, but as shown here they're simply wrong. There's a note about the UA being allowed to make automatic adjustments to align baselines, but they don't do that.
