If web compatibility is what the spec concerns, how about introducing a new value that _really fully_ makes the native control "styles" disappear?

I find it quite useful, for example, for vertical writing-mode. The interoperablilities of vertical writing controls among different browsers are now in desperate, even if the `appearance: none` is applied.
