So, the results of a slightly-more-careful review this time:

So it still needs to test somewhere that `max-width` is a percentage.
  And it should probably also allow `width` to be explicitly `auto` 
rather than requiring it to be unspecified (which I assume is what the
 `undefined` test is checking).
