Chris, I believe there is no formal correlate of "saturation" defined in Lab, and CIE does not formally recommend the equation "S = C/L" to be used in Lab colors, isn't that correct? Having said that, I agree that, for all practical purposes, "S = C/L" will work for a Lab color, my point is theoretical only: is it ok for the spec to use a definition of "saturation" that is not formally defined?
